In Zadar the fourth meeting of the European project Widespread School - Teaching Outside the Classroom
An opportunity to take stock of the pilot actions launched in schools in the 4 European countries involved

On 4 and 5 June, the fourth meeting of the Erasmus+ project Widespread School - Teaching Outside the Classroom took place in Zadar, Croatia, an initiative led by the Municipality of Reggio Emilia involving four European cities: Reggio Emilia (Italy), Zadar (Croatia), Girona (Spain) and Espoo (Finland).
The aim of the project is to improve the quality of primary and secondary education through innovative educational practices inspired by the model of the Scuola Diffusa, born in Reggio Emilia in response to the Covid-19 emergency.
During the meeting, the partners discussed the pilot actions experimented in the schools of the different countries and shared the first experiences of using the toolbox, a resource designed to support teachers and educators in taking didactics out of traditional classrooms.
The toolbox brings together guidelines, operational tools and useful materials for developing activities inspired by the Education Outside the Classroom approach. In the coming months, it will be further enriched with feedback from teachers involved in the pilot phase, while the drafting of the project's policy documents will also begin.
Launched in September 2023, Widespread School is coordinated by the Municipality of Reggio Emilia and Officina Educativa, with the support of the E35 Foundation.
The project partners are:
- University of Modena and Reggio Emilia - UNIMORE (Italy)
- University of Girona (Spain)
- Fondazione Reggio Children - Centro Loris Malaguzzi (Italy)
- Saunalahti School (Espoo, Finland)
- City of Zadar (Croatia)
- Carme Auguet School (Girona, Spain)
