Remo Italo Portioli, Chief Medical Officer Emeritus of Reggio Emilia, graduated in Medicine and Surgery, specialized in Cardiology and Endocrinology and Metabolic Disorders.

He became Chief of Medicine at the Hospital Santa Maria Nuova in Reggio Emilia in 1969, receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award during the 9th National Congress “Associazioni Medici Endocrinologi” from Dr. Roberto Valcavi in November 2009.

He currently serves as President of the Association Pietro Giuseppe Corradini per lo Studio e la Cura delle Malattie Endocrine (for the Study and Treatment of Endocrine Diseases), Honorary President of S.I.M.I (Italian Society of Internal Medicine) and Vice President of the Ethics Committee of the Hospital Santa Maria Nuova of Reggio Emilia.
