Professor Emeritus of Early Childhood Education at University College London, between 1986 and 1996 he was coordinator of a network of European Commission experts who worked on how to reconcile work and family responsibilities.
Since the 1980s he has been close to the educational philosophy of Reggio Emilia. He recently collaborated in the creation of a book on Loris Malaguzzi’s work entitled “Loris Malaguzzi and the Schools of Reggio Emilia: A Selection of his Writings and Speeches, 1945-1993”.
He deals in particular with early childhood education and care and the relationship between work, care, and gender.
