Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche

The National Research Council (Cnr) is the largest public research structure in Italy. Founded in 1923, it has operated in the past as a government research consultancy centre and as a financing fund for university research grants.
Since 1989 Cnr has been a research institution, with the mission of carrying out research projects, promoting innovation and competitiveness of the national industrial system, the internationalization of the national research system, and providing technologies and solutions to emerging needs in the public and private sectors.
