Pedakos 2

The quality of educational provision is often limited by undertrained staff, outdated teaching materials, and traditional pedagogical methods, while vulnerable families and those in rural areas face greater difficulties in accessing services. The lack of services also affects women's empowerment, as women spend a significant portion of their time on unpaid caregiving work.

Pedakos 2 – Preschool Education Development Alliance for Kosovo was launched as the second phase of the PEDAKOS project, promoted by the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of Kosovo in collaboration with leading Italian experts in the 0-6 education system. 

Phase 1 allowed for the introduction of innovative practices, the strengthening of educators’ skills, and the testing of public-private partnership models. The new phase expands the scope to fifty preschools, consolidating previous experiences and responding to the growing demand for high-quality services. 

Pedakos 2 aims to increase inclusion and equal access to preschool education, improve the quality of educational provision, reduce unpaid caregiving work, and support women’s economic empowerment. Drawing on the educational experience of the city of Reggio Emilia and attentive to the local context, the project implements four main actions: training of educational staff, redesigning learning environments, promoting sustainable practices through the launch of a new educational center for the reuse of waste materials, and fostering public-private cooperation, thereby creating structural conditions for a more inclusive and high-quality 0-6 education system.

Pedakos 2 aims to engage four thousand children, over eight thousand parents, 50 preschools, and 118 educational professionals across the country.

Launched in February 2026, the project seeks to generate a lasting impact by improving children’s educational experiences, promoting good practices, and strengthening the national preschool education system.
