Un Salto in via Gioia: monthly public openings return at Caffarri

The Caffarri reopens to the public with “Un Salto in via Gioia”, the initiative that opens the doors of the educational research center of Fondazione Reggio Children – Centro Loris Malaguzzi ETS, located in Via Flavio Gioia 4. The building hosts Remida – the Creative Recycling Center, scintillae – play and learning in the digital age, and the international PhD in Reggio Childhood Studies.

Every first Thursday of the month, from October to May, between 4:00 and 6:00 pm, visitors of all ages – children, families, and anyone interested – can take part in free tours and creative activities. The calendar includes the following dates: October 2, November 6, December 4, 2025, February 5, March 5, April 9, and May 7, 2026.

These afternoon openings, launched last year, were created with the aim of making Caffarri’s educational spaces accessible to the city, offering the opportunity to discover the different projects based there and to experiment with activities around play, materials, and learning.

The first appointment is scheduled for Thursday, October 2, on the occasion of Grandparents’ Day, with grandparents as special and honored guests.

The historic building in the Santa Croce neighborhood, once a carpentry workshop for the Officine Reggiane and later a feed mill, today hosts flexible and innovative spaces: from the reception area to the immersive room, from the urban kitchen to an environment blending digital and natural elements, up to Remida’s exhibition and workshop spaces and the striking façade painted by artist David Tremlett.
