The second international conference of P.E.R. Play Explore Research in San Paolo - Brazil

On 1 and 2 August the Paula Souza Centre in San Paulo hosted the second international conference of P.E.R. Play Explore Research, the project of Fondazione Reggio Children with the support of The LEGO Foundation to promote the relationship between play and learning and the right to play for all.

Two intense days of in-depth discussions, dialogues, exchanges and experiences together with teachers, educators and professionals who came from all over Brazil to reflect on the theme ‘Play and learning: community educational practices.’

The first day kicked off with music by the group Uirapuru and institutional greetings by Laura Laganà - Superintendent Rector, representative of the Paula Souza Centre, Livia Satullo - Deputy Consul at the Consulate General of Italy in São Paulo and Monica Faggionato, Head of School, Italian Education System for the Consular Circumscriptions of São Paulo, Curitiba and Porto Alegre, Sidsel Marie Kristensen - CEO of The LEGO Foundation and Cristian Fabbi, Director General of the Reggio Children Foundation.

To follow the interview with Carla Rinaldi - Pedagogist and President of Fondazione Reggio Children, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia lecturer, 2015 LEGO Award by Paulo Fochi - Professor of Pedagogy at Unisinos University in Brazil, Founder and coordinator of OBECI-Observatory of the Culture of Childhood, Member of the scientific committee of Bambini magazine.

The morning and afternoon of 1 August instead saw participants involved in 13 different workshops focusing on different educational practices for learning through play: from nature and regeneration to apps and creative digital platforms such as OctoStudio and Scratch from the MIT-Lifelong Kindergarten, public spaces and learning spaces, museum experiences, and educational policies, all organised by the P.E.R. Brazil partner network.

On Friday 2 August, the second day of the event, the theme “The shape we give to education is the shape we give to the world” was addressed in plenary with Daniela Caldeirinha, Vice President of the Lemann Foundation, Education Area and Cristian Fabbi.

This was followed by the third workshop session in parallel and a final moment of restitution to share experiences, reflections and ideas.

Playful experiences for children and families for the last day of P.E.R. Play Explore Research Brazil

On Saturday 3 September at the CEU Butantã in São Paulo, children, families and local communities experienced a morning of play, fun and exploration together with the partners of P.E.R. Brazil, to discover the beauty of being together through different creative possibilities.
