Princess Kate arrives in Reggio Emilia

                                                                        

“The Princess of Wales’s visit to Reggio Emilia is a deeply moving and profoundly significant moment for the Reggio Children Foundation,” says Francesco Profumo, president of the Reggio Children Foundation – Loris Malaguzzi Centre ETS. “This is not merely an official visit,” continues the former minister. It is the international recognition of an educational philosophy that, originating in Reggio Emilia, now speaks to the whole world: an education based on listening to children, on creativity, on relationships and on community building.”

                       

“The sensitivity that Princess Kate has repeatedly shown towards early childhood issues,” Profumo adds, “makes this meeting particularly important. The early years of life are a time when not only skills are developed, but also trust, imagination, the ability to be with others and to look to the future. The Reggio Emilia Approach stems precisely from this conviction: every child possesses extraordinary potential and has the right to be welcomed, listened to and supported in their discovery of the world.”

                       

“We are delighted,” continues the president of Fondazione Reggio Children, “that this visit can serve as an opportunity for international dialogue on the themes of education, care and investment in the younger generation. At a time marked by major technological and social transformations, starting afresh with children means starting afresh with the future.”

Fondazione Reggio Children – Centro Loris Malaguzzi ETS was established in 2011, drawing on the educational experience of Reggio Emilia, at the initiative of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia and under the chairmanship of Carla Rinaldi, to promote educational quality through research, international engagement and solidarity.
