A hundred worlds to explore

On Sunday 17 May, the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre is celebrating a double anniversary: its own 20th anniversary and the 20th anniversary of Reggionarra. This is a special occasion to open its doors to the city and invite children, families and residents of all ages to enjoy an afternoon of discovery, creativity and wonder.

From 3 pm to 8 pm, the Centre’s spaces will come alive with “A Hundred Worlds to Explore”, an experiential journey dedicated to the #100languages, the heart of the Reggio Emilia Approach.
Six themed workshops – on clay, gears, the park, paper, light and photography – will offer immersive settings in which to experiment and give shape to your ideas.

The activities, which are free and subject to limited places, will be organised into three 45-minute sessions (3.30 pm, 5.00 pm and 7.15 pm). No booking is required: you can choose your workshop on arrival, subject to availability. We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes before the start of each session.

Throughout the afternoon, you will also be free to explore the Centre’s exhibitions and spaces, a symbol of Reggio Emilia’s educational culture. There will be plenty of opportunities to get creative, such as the ‘Una spilla in viaggio’ corner, where you can make a personalised item using natural and recycled materials.

For the occasion, the Caffetteria di Pause – Atelier dei Sapori and the Reggio Children Bookshop will also be open, offering a selection of books and publications dedicated to children.

The day will be enhanced, at 6.00 pm, by the performance “Quando gli dei erano tanti” by Marco Baliani, which will officially launch Reggionarra’s week of events. Admission is free with registration from 8 May.

The initiative is organised by the Municipality of Reggio Emilia in collaboration with Reggio Children, Scuole e Nidi d’infanzia – Istituzione del Comune di Reggio Emilia, Fondazione Reggio Children Foundation, Remida and Pause – Atelier dei Sapori.
