The March of Reggio Emilia for a future of Peace
Reggio Emilia mobilizes "For a future of peace": is the title chosen for the Appeal and the March that the city will welcome in the historic center on the afternoon of next Saturday, February 24, day of the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Promoted jointly and equally by all members, Appeal and mobilization are carried out in the sign of a peace that is universal and concern all theatres of conflict present in the world.
The route of the March will begin at 16.30 on 24 February at Porta San Pietro, the procession will walk along Via Emilia to Piazza Gioberti and from here continue along Corso Garibaldi, then through Via Farini reach Piazza Prampolini where, At the foot of the sign 'Cease fire now!', there will be some interventions.
From Gaza to Ukraine, from Sudan to the Democratic Republic of Congo, dozens of wars and conflicts are underway that not only claim innocent civilian victims and limit democracy, but also trample on human, social, civil and political rights around the world. Our mobilization calls for a ceasefire for all these conflicts, no one excluded, and the opening of negotiations at all latitudes.
The consequences of conflict also affect local communities that appear to be remote from conflict - such as in the case of Reggio Emilia. Wars affect our welfare systems, reception, have repercussions on our companies, workers, sports competitions, cultural activities and also on our freedom to travel the world.
"A future of peace" you can not just hope for it, you must have the courage to demand it!
