Rigenerazioni project: with the final event three public meetings on sustainability and the start of the bulletin board in Santa Croce

Reggio Emilia, 20 March 2023. "Sustainability is creating good links" is the title of the final event of the project "Rigenerazioni" in the district of Santa Croce of Reggio Emilia, which will be held on 22, 23, 24 and 26 March between Tecnopolo and Centro Internazionale Loris Malaguzzi. "Rigenerazioni" is a project proposed by Fondazione Reggio Children, selected together with Remida and in collaboration with Fondazione CESVI, within the framework of the Formula Program of Intesa Sanpaolo.

Started a year and a half ago, the project "Rigenerazioni" has tried to put to value the wealth of associations, organizations, schools and citizens of Santa Croce, through a path on the themes of good practices of social, environmental and economic sustainability. It is coordinated by Remida, the Creative Recycling Center of Fondazione Reggio Children, Schools and Nurseries of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia and IREN. Remida is preparing to be a new reality of the neighborhood, with the next transfer of its headquarters to Ex Mangimificio Caffarri.

The final event between 22 and 26 March, with the sponsorship of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, will be an opportunity to return the sense of work these months and deliver to the city not only the thoughts, through three seminar meetings on sustainability with experts in different disciplines, but also a symbolic object, the result of the collaboration of many: an itinerant bulletin board neighborhood, Multifunction, an object that acts as a reference point for information and creative activities.

Sustainability is: Friendship, Bonds, Future

The starting question of the "Regeneration" project was: "What is sustainability and how does it help us to feel part of a community?".  "Sustainability is creating good links" was the answer chosen to the meetings of the project and is the title of the seminar moments will be held at the Conference Room Tecnopolo, in Piazzale Europa, with guests online and in-person and the possibility for the public to chat.  "Friendship, Ties, Future" are the three meetings that entrust the reflection on sustainability to speakers with original points of view, from science fiction writer to biologist, from radio presenter and philosopher to illustrator, from the town planner to the marine biologist.

It begins on Wednesday, March 22 at 17.30 with the institutional greetings of Lanfranco De Franco, Councillor for House and Participation and Carlotta Bonvicini, Councillor for Policies for Sustainability of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, Vincenzo De Marino, Retail Sales Director of the Regional Management Emilia Romagna and Marche of Intesa Sanpaolo and Graziella Capucciati, Area Impact Manager of Emilia Romagna and Marche of Intesa Sanpaolo, Marta Laureanti, Programme Manager Italy of Fondazione CESVI and Serena Foracchia, member of the board of directors of Fondazione Reggio Children.

• "Friendship" is the first theme that will follow, Wednesday 22 March, from 18 to 19.30, with Pietro Del Soldà, writer, author and radio host on Rai Radio 3, Ikram Adwan, Bethlehem Educational Creative Reuse Center and Ilda Curti, expert in community policies, University of Turin - Department culture, politics and society, co-founder Associazione nazionale Lo Stato dei Luoghi.
  

•  "Future" is the key word of the seminar on Thursday, March 23, from 17.30 to 19.30, with Claudio Calvaresi, Principal of Avanzi Sostenibilità per Azioni, Åshlid Kanstad Johnsen, illustrator and Clelia Farris, writer, finalist at the Urania Mondadori 2016 award.
   
•  "Links" will be at the center of the seminar on Friday, March 24, from 17.30 to 19.30 with Veronica Pacini-Ketchabaw, professor of Early Childhood Education at Western University, Carlos Viriato, marine biologist, E35 Foundation in Pemba, Mozambique, to conclude with the story of the project "Rigenerazioni" by the protagonists.

Presentation of the Neighbourhood Travelling Bulletin Board

The final day of "Regenerations", "Sustainability at the Center", will be held on the afternoon of Sunday 26 March at the International Centre Loris Malaguzzi, viale Ramazzini 72/ A, on the occasion of "Children at the Center" when, from 15 to 18, the presentation of the travelling neighbourhood bulletin board with workshops and demonstration workshops open to all, children and adults.
Born from mapping the needs, skills and realities of Santa Croce, the bulletin board was designed thanks to the collaboration of many subjects, in particular by a mixed working group formed by citizens and associations. Together with Laura Pedroni and Eloisa Di Rocco of Remida have actively participated in the social gardens of Montenero, Coress, the Santa Croce Library, the sewing workshop Iwinobo, the children of primary schools Collodi and Malaguzzi and secondary school first grade Galilei the educators and carpentry boys of the project FlyZone of Coop Sociale San Giovanni Bosco and Officina Educativa of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia. A design to which the architect and town of Santa Croce Taryn Ferrentino has contributed to give concreteness and shape in the bulletin board.

The notice board, made of laminated wood, about two meters by a square meter and the weight of a quintale, responds symbolically to the desire to create relationships and reference points among the many positive realities present in Santa Croce, Often not informed about the life of the neighborhood and their mutual initiatives. The built structure is suitable for many small activities: signage, book exchange and recycling of objects, puppet theatre, table for smart working, think tank, archive, up to hospitality for a cat, birds or plants in the perspective of a sustainability that embraces the living community. It was designed to be solid and welcoming, but also to be transported to other parts of the neighborhood.

In these months with "Regenerations" the appointments and workshops promoted by the working group have had as direct beneficiaries over 700 people including 350 children, boys and girls from 3 to 14 years old, 50 with special rights, 100 parents with daughters and sons from zero to 14 years, 100 residents and 150 remote beneficiaries. 

 In addition to the promoters, the Rigenerazioni project has seen participation in various phases of the city and citizens of Santa Croce, primary schools at the Malaguzzi Center, primary Collodi, media Galilei and many realities and associations of the neighborhood including: Arci - Cepam, Comitato Ascoltare Santa Croce, Coress, Cooperativa sociale L'Ovile, Biblioteca Santa Croce, Cooperativa sociale San Giovanni Bosco - FlyZone, Centro islamico, Città migrante - Ciclofficina, Associazione Circolabile, Centro sociale Orti Montenero, Dimora d'Abramo - Atelier Iwinobo, Fondazione Famiglia Sarzi, Fondazione Mondinsieme, Intercultura, Parco Innovazione, Pause - Atelier dei Sapori, Reggio Children srl, Servizi sociali e Poli territoriali del Comune di Reggio Emilia.
