At the Caffarri the second appointment of ‘Un salto in via Gioia’ returns

On Thursday 6 March, from 4 to 6 p.m., "Un Salto in via Gioia" returns, with the opening to the public of the spaces entrusted to Fondazione Reggio Children - Centro Loris Malaguzzi - ETS, in the former Mangimificio and former Falegnameria delle Reggiane, which have been recovered and refurbished to host quality education research projects and workshops, the Remida headquarters, the Creative Recycling Centre, PER Play Explore Research, scintilla-play and learning in the digital age and the Reggio Childhood Studies PhD.

The invitation is open to children, families, and citizens of all ages and from all over the city, first and foremost from the neighbourhood of Santa Croce, who will be welcomed by the staff of Fondazione Reggio Children and Remida volunteers. There will be an opportunity to visit the spaces and to immerse themselves in explorations and creative activities with workshops to discover play, matter, and the digital.

The initiative is repeated every first Thursday of the month until May, in order to open spaces normally used for work, research and study to the citizens, and which can only be visited for events.

The building is characterised by the façade painted by David Tremlett, on Via Gioia 4, promoted by the Fondazione Palazzo Magnani, in the context of the work "The Organ Pipes". Entering this wing of the Caffarri in a large open space with aisles, trusses, fortified brick columns and two large rust-coloured silos, one encounters a yellow entrance overlooked by two offices, a lounge area for reception with an urban kitchen, spaces equipped as small analogue and digital workshops, rooms set up for seminars and conferences, the Remida area with materials, experiences and saved books to exchange with other books, an immersive place for projections and readings surrounded by a blue curtain, and the study area for PhD students on the first floor.

The research areas of the projects intersect: these include play and learning, listening to nature and the ecological and sustainable dimension, the relationship between architecture and educational environments, creativity and the digital, and community relations. All of which makes this space, where children run wild, worth a visit, if only to admire it. Next events on Thursday 3 April and 8 May.
