Education is research: the second issue of FRC News has been published

The second issue of FRC News, the quarterly magazine of the Fondazione Reggio Children, launched in October 2025, is now available to download.

A new instalment that continues to showcase the projects, encounters and visions that underpin the Foundation’s work, placing one key word at the centre: research.

“Education is research” is not a slogan, but a concrete choice, a way of engaging with questions, relationships and contexts. The pages of this issue reflect precisely this perspective, weaving together different voices: researchers, lecturers, educators and teachers, but also children and young people, alongside partners and communities. What emerges is a concept of research that does not observe from a distance, but is built into everyday life, capable of questioning itself and generating new meanings.

The thread running through the journal follows paths that start with educational services and extend to the international PhD programme in Reggio Childhood Studies, before opening up to broader connections. This is the case with the experiences of the P.E.R. Play Explore Research project and the dialogue relaunched in Billund, or with projects that envision the city as a public space for learning, such as Abitare il Paese. A horizon where research meets the challenges of the present and seeks to build possibilities.

This context also includes reflections on new perspectives regarding the "100 languages" in relation to artificial intelligence, alongside contributions from scholars who highlight the value of humanities research when it engages with educational practice: not merely the production of knowledge, but ethical guidance, critical depth and the capacity for shared transformation.

FRC News was created precisely with this aim in mind: to share what Fondazione Reggio Children does and who it engages with, giving a voice to those who are part of it every day and building an open dialogue with the world of education, in Reggio Emilia, in Italy and internationally.

A project conceived as a space for exchange and connection, capable of bringing together experiences, thoughts and perspectives.
