223rd anniversary of the First Italian Flag

The Valli Theatre in Reggio Emilia hosted the ceremony for the celebrations of the 223rd Anniversary of the First Italian Flag, dedicated to the Rights of Children and Adolescents.

Among the many speakers there were Bryan Mc Cormack, Founder and President of Yesterday Today Tomorrow YTT and David Sassoli, President of the European Parliament.

Following the closure of the schools due to the COVID-19 emergency, Fondazione Reggio Children provides free online activities for children and adults, in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Education.

Due to the COVID-19 emergency, the FA.C.E. Project working group reorganised its remote coordination role, suspending all working visits to the different areas. Activities involving children and parents have been transformed into remote proposals through online videos, chat and video calls between experts, parents, grandparents and children to continue learning and exploring together, from home.

Remida, the Creative Recycling Centre dedicated a whole day, on 3 June, World Bicycle Day, to bicycles offering a programme full of initiatives, both online and offline, to talk not only about mobility but also about sustainability and urban, social, environmental and economic regeneration.

Widespread School: New learning landscapes

Three new quality educational contexts have emerged from outdoor, passing through or underused spaces at the Galileo Galilei Middle School and the Marco Polo Primary School in Reggio Emilia, as part of a Widespread School. The three pilot projects – curated by Officina Educativa of the Municipality of Reggio nell'Emilia and Fondazione Reggio Children – are the result of the experience of dialogue between architecture and pedagogy, developed with the Fare Scuola Project, carried out together with Enel Cuore Onlus.

The project FA.C.E aims to increase access to educational services for children aged 0/6 years in order to fight educational poverty in four Italian areas characterised by fragile contexts. It sets up participatory paths and educational services with local institutions and communities.

The project Abitare il Paese (Living the Country) promotes a culture of questions concerning the search for the meaning of the city through a territorial co-design path that involves children and young people from Italian schools, teachers and architects.

Flags4Rights – 100 flags for rights

An open-air exhibition of 100 artworks created by children and young people from all over the world installed in the city centre of Reggio Emilia on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Pause – Atelier dei Sapori

Pause is the research lab of Fondazione Reggio Children dedicated to taste and wellbeing, where the relationship with food, starting from the experience of the kitchens in the Preschools and Infant-toddler Centres of Reggio Emilia, becomes multisensory and creative. The core of the project is the relationship generated between people, knowledge, taste and experience.

FARE SCUOLA

The project FARE SCUOLA promotes change in schools by redesigning the spaces intended as learning and relational places. Since 2015, 100 pre-schools and primary schools (children aged 3-11 years old) have been involved to offer new learning opportunities and new ways of doing and thinking about school.

Remida – The Creative Recycling Centre

Remida – The Creative Recycling Centre

The Remida Centre in Reggio Emilia is a project and a place where research is conducted on sustainability and creativity starting from industrial waste materials. The Centre is visited every year by more than 3,000 people like teachers, artists, students, administrators and interested people coming from all over the world.

P.A.C.E.

Within 3 years, the project P.A.C.E. aims to increase the quality of early childhood education systems in Palestine by promoting the activation of an integrated public-private system, the upgrading of school contexts and the opening of a creative reuse centre as a professional development place for teachers.

Particidade

The Particidade project supports the cooperation between the Municipalities of Reggio Emilia, Pemba and Maputo in Mozambique to design and implement educational proposals addressed to primary school children (aged 5-11 years) as part of a wider process of urban planning and regeneration and professional development.
