“Scandalosamente bello”: an afternoon of training at Teatro Cavallerizza
The beauty and care of places as a tool for social innovation and a decisive factor in the design of welfare policies and the planning of spaces for people. This was the guiding theme of “Scandalosamente bello,” the training afternoon promoted on 1 April at Teatro Cavallerizza by the Municipal Administration, FCR Farmacie Comunali Riunite, and Fondazione Reggio Children.

The P.E.R. – Play Explore Research project arrives in Denver, Colorado
From 10 to 12 April 2025, the fourth international action-conference of the P.E.R. – Play Explore Research project took place in Denver, promoted by Fondazione Reggio Children and The LEGO Foundation. The meeting, dedicated to the theme “Growing Worlds Together Through Natural Digital Dialogues,” explored the dialogue between natural and digital dimensions in play and learning processes, bringing together researchers, educators, and international partners.

Launch of the E.N.E.R.G.Y project in Naples – Enhancing Nurturing and Education Rights GloballY
On 29 April, the E.N.E.R.G.Y project was presented in Naples, a nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening the right to education. The project is carried out by Istituto Comprensivo 83° “Porchiano Bordiga,” Remida Napoli, and Aporema Onlus in synergy with Fondazione Reggio Children – Centro Loris Malaguzzi ETS, with funding from The Human Safety Net, the Foundation of the Generali Group.

Graduation of six new PhD doctors in Reggio Childhood Studies and positive ANVUR evaluation of the Doctoral Programme
On Tuesday 13 May, at Fondazione Reggio Children’s spaces in Caffarri, the graduation ceremony of six new doctors of the international PhD in Reggio Childhood Studies took place. During the morning, the positive recognition by ANVUR – the National Agency for the Evaluation of Universities and Research Systems – was also presented, within the accreditation of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia as a “Class A” university. The theses addressed interdisciplinary topics related to ecology, ethics, learning environments, and contemporary educational practices.

P.E.R. in Nairobi: resilient communities and quality education
From 12 June in Nairobi (Kenya), a new edition of P.E.R. – Play Explore Research took place. The African stop focused on the theme “Strengthening communities: resilient pillars for quality education,” with meetings with policymakers, Italian-African NGOs, and visits to schools in the Kariobangi and Korogocho slums. Participants explored inclusive and sustainable educational practices, meeting parents, teachers, and children to share experiences and promote education as a tool for community building and resilience.

“La Grande Utopia”: from project to public restitution
Children and young people were the protagonists of the pilot project “La Grande Utopia,” developed by EMERGENCY in collaboration with Fondazione Reggio Children – Centro Loris Malaguzzi ETS at the Gino Strada Comprehensive Institute in Sesto Fiorentino. Through workshops, storytelling, and creative activities, the project fostered reflections on peace, nonviolence, and coexistence, encouraging the building of relationships based on respect.
In September, the project was presented at the EMERGENCY Festival in Reggio Emilia, with a public restitution that included posters displayed in cities and the thematic bibliography “Noi abbassiamo la guerra” designed for all ages and offering tools for replicating the experience.

Inauguration of the “Di Onda in Onda” Atelier in Ligonchio
On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July, the inauguration event of the renewed Atelier “Di Onda in Onda – Water and Energy Atelier” took place at the Ligonchio Hydroelectric Power Plant. Through institutional speeches, workshops, performances, and concerts, visitors of all ages explored vital energies, water, the sun, and electrons, deepening themes related to climate change and sustainability. The atelier, developed with the support of the Municipality of Ventasso, the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano National Park, Fondazione Reggio Children – Centro Loris Malaguzzi ETS, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, and other partners, is conceived as an educational, scientific, and playful space for children and adults, contributing to the cultural and environmental regeneration of the historic village of Ligonchio.

P.E.R. Play Explore Research in Hanoi, Vietnam
The international project on play and learning promoted by Fondazione Reggio Children and The LEGO Foundation stopped in Hanoi with the seminar “Cultivating wellbeing: the intersection between play, education and research,” two days of exchange with universities, educators, and educational organisations from Vietnam, China, and South Korea.

Launch of the 41st PhD cycle in Reggio Childhood Studies at Sala Tricolore
On 7 November 2025, at the Sala Tricolore of the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, the new PhD candidates were presented and the new doctors celebrated. During the event, several key figures in the field of education intervened, including Mayor Marco Massari, Rita Cucchiara (Rector of UNIMORE), Prof. Annamaria Contini (Director of the Department of Education and Human Sciences, UNIMORE), Francesco Profumo (President of Fondazione Reggio Children), and Cristian Fabbi (Director of Fondazione Reggio Children). A keynote lecture titled “PhD, Innovation and Humanities” was delivered by Prof. Marco Mancini, Secretary General of the Ministry of University and Research, former Vice-Rector of La Sapienza University, introduced and moderated by Carla Bagnoli, PhD programme coordinator.

P.E.R. in Billund, Denmark for final stage of the project
From 20 to 22 November, Fondazione Reggio Children and The LEGO Foundation gathered in Billund, Denmark, for the final event of the international P.E.R. – Play Explore Research project, dedicated to the relationship between play, creativity, and learning. The action-conference brought together educators, researchers, and international partners in dialogues, workshops, and public activities on the future of learning, on the occasion of the International Day for the Rights of the Child.

In Rome the launch of the Manifesto of “Abitare il Paese – The Culture of Inquiry” and start of the 8th edition of the project
On 4 December in Rome, the Manifesto of “Abitare il Paese – The Culture of Inquiry” was presented, a project promoted by the National Council of Architects (CNAPPC) in collaboration with Fondazione Reggio Children – Centro Loris Malaguzzi ETS. The Manifesto provides guidelines for promoting a culture of architecture and care for places through schools, involving children and communities in the design of more inclusive and high-quality spaces. At the same time, the 8th edition of the project was launched.
